Born in New York 1810.  Came to Manitowoc 1846. Groceries and real estate.  Lived on his income in old age. Second village president 1852. Stockholder 1st National Bank. Assembluman 1855. Great fisherman. Died 12/21/1882. Third Manitowoc Postmaster. Harbor Committee 1861. Grain shipper 1861. Republican.  Before that a Whig Member assembly by Republicans 1854 when party formed. Member first village board from second ward. Village president 1857 again 1862.  President first school county gathering 1849.  For 24 years liveds at Windiate House and was somewhat of a recluse.  A confirmed atheist buried by the temple of Honor of which he was a member.
