Grand Master of the state lodge masons. Admitted to bar Chairman County Board 1856. Incorperator for Manitowoc T R & Mishicot Plankroad 1856. Wild Awake Leader. Great activity and impulsiveness. Straightforward, popular. Height 5 foot 9 inches. Hair and eyes dark, beard and whiskers grey, sunny, sparkling eyes; cheeks full and rosy. Mentioned for speakership Assembly 1859. Called "Shinglemaker" at Madison. Lieut. Col. of 13th Regiment Militia 1848. Mentioned for congress on Republican ticket 1858.
